Frequently Asked Questions About Our Artisan Yarns

Orders, hand-dyed skeins, choosing a yarn base or caring for your project: find the information you need before and after your purchase.

Orders and Delivery

How long will it take to receive my order?
For products in stock, the terms and conditions state a delivery time of 3 to 10 business days after payment is received, which is generally one to two weeks depending on the carrier. During busy periods, up to 5 additional business days may be needed. For a pre-order, the stated lead time is 3 to 5 weeks. Artisan dyeing and hand preparation take longer than producing an industrial product. For an out-of-stock item that is not available for pre-order, check the details on its product page or contact the studio.
How will I know if my order has been shipped?
WooCommerce sends emails at different stages of the order, including when its status changes to “Completed.” The automatic Colissimo email triggered when the shipping label is created is not currently enabled. If a tracking number is available, you can view it in the order details in your account.
Do you deliver everywhere?
The destinations and delivery methods available depend on the address entered at checkout. If your country or destination is not offered, contact us and let us know where you are: we will check on a case-by-case basis before you place your order.
Can I track my parcel?
When a Colissimo tracking number is associated with the order, the tracking link appears in the order details in your account. Tracking is only available once the number has been created and added to the order.

Stock, Pre-Orders and Colors

What is the difference between an in-stock product and a pre-order?
An in-stock product is ready to be prepared for shipping; the terms and conditions generally allow 3 to 10 business days after payment, with a possible additional delay during busy periods. A pre-order is an item that still needs to be prepared or dyed: the lead time stated in the terms and conditions is 3 to 5 weeks. The product page indicates the item’s availability.
Will an out-of-stock color be available again?
Some colors may be offered again, but restocking is not guaranteed. Keep an eye on new arrivals and the full shop, or contact us with a specific request.
Can I request a custom color or dye job?
Requests for custom colors can be considered on a case-by-case basis, particularly for designers and yarn shops. Tell the studio about your project so we can discuss it.
Why might two skeins of the same color be slightly different?
Each skein is hand-dyed in small batches, making every one unique. Slight shade variations may therefore occur between two skeins of the same color; they are part of the artisanal nature of the dyeing process. For a more consistent look, we recommend alternating skeins throughout your project.
Will the color look exactly the same as it does on my screen?
The photos aim to represent the colors as faithfully as possible, but the appearance may vary depending on the dye lot and your screen’s settings or characteristics. The colour chart also shows the available shades.
Can I order several skeins for one project?
Yes. When possible, ordering the quantity you need for your project together makes it easier to select skeins that are as similar as possible. Because the dyeing is done by hand, an identical dye lot cannot be guaranteed. You can alternate skeins for a more consistent look.

Choosing a Yarn

I don’t know which yarn to choose for my project. Can you help?
Yes. Write to us with the pattern, project, size, quantity needed and the look you are after. This information will help the studio recommend a suitable yarn base.
Which yarn should I choose for my project?
The choice depends on the pattern, the result you want and the characteristics of the yarn. See the yarn bases page and the product pages to compare fiber content, yardage and yarn weight.
How much yarn will I need for my project?
The amount depends in particular on the pattern, size, yardage, gauge and yarn base you choose. Refer to the pattern instructions and the yarn product page. If you are unsure, contact us with your pattern.
Can I substitute the yarn recommended in my pattern?
Yes, if the yarn characteristics are compatible. Compare the yardage, yarn weight, gauge, fiber content and the look you want. To check a substitution, send us the pattern and the size you plan to make.
What do Fingering, DK, Aran and Lace mean?
These are categories for different yarn weights and yardages. The names do not replace the pattern gauge: always compare the pattern instructions with the yarn product page. Browse yarns by weight and see the yarn bases to compare the yarns we offer.

Care and Winding

How should I care for my finished project?
Follow the recommendations for the yarn base you chose. The yarn bases page recommends gentle washing with a specialist wool detergent and lukewarm water to preserve the colors and the look of the knitting. Choose a drying method suited to the fiber content and follow the yarn’s care instructions.
Can I machine-wash my finished project?
It depends on the yarn base and its treatment. Check the product page: only machine-wash yarns whose care instructions allow it, and follow the instructions for that particular base.
What do Superwash and non-Superwash mean?
Superwash refers to a treatment that makes wool more resistant to felting and may allow it to be machine-washed, depending on the yarn’s care instructions. Non-Superwash wool has not had this treatment and needs especially gentle washing. In either case, follow the recommendations on the product page.
Can you wind my skein?
Yes, when the option is available on the product page. The skein is then wound into a ball ready to use. You can also see the details of the winding service.

Returns and After-Sales Service

Can I return a wound skein?
No. The terms and conditions exclude wound items, custom items and PDF products from the right of withdrawal.
Can I return or exchange an order?
The terms and conditions provide a 14-day withdrawal period from the date of receipt. Contact us before returning anything; return shipping costs are your responsibility, and exceptions apply, particularly to wound or custom items. See the terms and conditions for full details.
What should I do if my order arrives damaged or incomplete?
Contact us promptly through the contact form, including your order number and a description of the issue; photos may help. For damage visible on delivery, the terms and conditions require you to make specific reservations with the carrier and follow the formalities and deadlines stated there.

Shops and Events

Do you have a physical shop?
Une Louve Dans Les Bois does not have its own physical shop. Some partner shops stock our yarns: find them on the Stockists page.
Where can I buy your yarns in a shop?
See the Stockists page, which lists our partner shops without duplicating the list here.
Do you take part in fairs or events?
Yes, Une Louve Dans Les Bois occasionally takes part in fairs and events focused on yarn, knitting and crafts. Find announcements and archives in the Events section.
Where can I find out about upcoming fairs?
See the Events section. The FAQ does not repeat event dates so there is only one up-to-date source.

Professionals and Collaborations

Do you offer partnerships or collaborations?
Proposals from designers, creators, content creators or event organizers can be considered on a case-by-case basis. You can also discover our collaboration kits. Tell the studio about your project; every request is reviewed, but acceptance is not guaranteed.
Do you work with shops or professional resellers?
Shops interested in working with us can get in touch and tell us about their business and request. Any potential colors or collaborations are considered on a case-by-case basis.
